Binding screws
Binding screws, also called book screws, are ideal for binding swatches or cards. Metal tubes, screws and hammertop screws are available in various sizes. Plastic models are available as a set.
Binding screws with a hole through the length of the tubes for the purpose of ball chain are also included in our product range. With this product you can immediately hang or organise your bundles!

Binding screws – What are the sizes?
Metal binding screw sizes differ from the plastic ones. The latter are available as sets in fixed sizes. Metal tubes and screws are separately available and in more combinations so that any capacity can be achieved.
Metal tubes and screws
Metal binding screws are available as separate tubes and screws or hammertop screws. You can choose your ideal combination yourself. This way, the exact right size can be reached by for example using our patented hammertop screw or extension screws.
Metal tubes are available with a capacity of 2 mm to 150 mm. The head diameter is always 10 mm, the tube Ø is 5 mm and the thread is suitable for M4 screws.
The metal screws with a M4 thread also have a head diameter of 10 mm. The following sizes are available:
- Screw M4 x 4 mm
- Screw M4 x 7.5 mm
- Screw M4 x 7.5 mm with 1, 2, 3, or 4 mm extension directly underneath the head
- Hammertop screw M4 x 9 mm
- Hammertop screw M4 x 9 mm with 1, 2, 3, or 4 mm extension directly underneath the head
Metal binding screws are also available in M6. In this case, the shaft has a diameter of 7.6 mm and the head Ø is 13 mm. For lengths and models please contact us.
Plastic binding screws
Plastic screws are available as a set with a capacity varying from 3.5 mm to 90 mm. The tube and screw heads both have a diameter of 12 mm. These high quality plastic binding screws are very strong and slightly elastic.
A plastic binding screw with hole through the length for the purpose of a ball chain is also available. This binding screw exists in a length varying from 3.5 mm to 50 mm. An overview of all plastic binding screws can be found in the webshop.
Book screws – Which materials exist?
Binding screws are available in metal and plastic models. Both are very strong and durable, but plastic binding screws are generally slightly easier to assemble than the metal type. Other than that, your choice will depend on the desired appearance for your application.
The following metal plating are available:
- Nickel plated
- Brass plated
- Black zinc plated
On demand, these are available with a head lacquered in any RAL colour. Please contact us for amounts and prizes.
From stock, the plastic book screws are available in black or white. For other colours please inquire about the possibilities. Plastic binding screws with hole are also available in both black and white. Please take a look in our webshop for a complete overview.
Binding screws – Usage & Assembly
Book screws are mostly used to bundle swatches, fans, colour cards or other samples. They can easily be (dis)assembled which allows for a changing content. Would you like to hang a swatch?
This is possible by means of hangers for binding screws or plastic binding screws with hole through the length of the tube. You could easily lead a ball chain through this type of binding screw.
Please note that not all tubes and screws match each other. Tubes until 7 mm can only be combined with the 4 mm screws. Tubes from 8 mm onwards can be combined with the 7.5 mm screw. Hammertop screws are only available in combination with the 10 mm tubes.

Extension pieces
Extension pieces are ideal for extending our M4 (Ø 5 mm) binding screws. The nickel plated extension pieces are available in the following lengths: 10 mm / 15 mm / 20 mm / 25 mm / 30 mm. Herewith, the capacity of binding screws can thus be extended with up to 30 mm.

Distance holders
Spacers with an inner diameter of 5.2 mm exactly fit around the M4 tubes. They are placed over the binding screw’s shaft to fill up empty space or to fix the desired inner space of your cap or book to a set distance.
The outer diameter of 10 mm has the same diameter as the binding screw’s head. The plastic spacers are available in the following lengths: 5 mm / 10 mm / 15 mm / 20 mm / 25 mm / 30 mm.

Covercaps + washers
Covercaps are used to enlarge the heads of metal M4 binding screws and to finish them off in a desired colour. Our covercaps are available from stock in black and white, other colours are available on demand. The plastic covercaps exist off a cap and a washer.

Binding screw hangers
Swatch straps are ideal for hanging your swatch or fan. The swatch strap, or bundle strap, is usable for M4 binding screws from 8 mm in length onwards. The binding screw can be placed through the strap and the bundle.
Hangers for binding screws are suitable for M4 binding screws. You can easily hang your fan or swatch from the hangers. The hangers are available in nickel plated and brass plated.

Washers
Washers serve as a reinforcement or to fill up empty space. Washers are available in several sizes. We can supply washers in nickel plated, brass plated, zinc plated and plastic black, white and transparent. Washers available from stock can be found in our webshop.

Which size of binding screw do I need for my application?
A binding screw needs to be the same size as the capacity you need to overcome. For example, when your application is a colour fan of 15 mm, you need a 15 mm binding screw.
Which sizes metal tubes and screws fit together?
Most tubes can be combined with 7.5 mm screws. Only the tubes until 7 mm have to be combined with 4 mm screws. The hammertop screws of 9 mm can be combined with the 10 mm tubes.
What are the advantages of a plastic binding screw?
Plastic binding screws are slightly easier to (dis)assemble than metal binding screws. They can usually be screwed together by hand, while metal binding screws usually have to be assembled with tools.
Do metal binding screws with hole through the length exist?
No. We only offer plastic book screws with hole through the length.
Do book screws differ from binding screws?
No, ‘book screws’ are merely a more specific designation of a binding screw in our product range.
Are these products also available for M6 binding screws?
Accessories for M6 binding screws are not available from stock. You could however contact us regarding amounts, prizes and delivery times for customized accessories.
